Totok is currently living in Jakarta where he works as Deputy Rector for Academics and Research (Provost) at a private university in Jakarta.   He is responsible for all academics activities in the university,  both in undergraduate and graduate programs, including academic information system, quality assurance, research, and knowledge management.  He is also overseeing the accreditation, faculty certification, and curriculum development in four schools and eleven departments.

According to Totok, his education and experience in Boston University School of Education has provided him with wisdom and skills of developing and implementing a good education in Indonesia. First of all, he is able to think as systematic as possible every time he encounters a problem. Totok explains that education problems are usually complex with many factors and stakeholders involved. A systematic approach is very helpful.  Secondly, he is used to seeing problems from many perceptions. He never takes for granted standpoint on every issue because his education reminds him to be emphatic to all. He respects differences because all human beings have equal rights to be successful in their life.
