Teaching English As A Second Language

I am a lecturer in English Education in the School of Education at Atma Jaya Catholic University Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition to teaching several courses, including Teaching English to Secondary School Learners, Classroom Interaction, and Structure, I supervise some of the undergraduate students in English Education. I am now currently writing papers and conducting research on applications of the fascinating area known as Cognitive Linguistics to English as a second language learning and teaching in the Indonesian context. By doing so I am also preparing myself for a doctoral study in the near future. Besides working at Atma Jaya, I am also teaching several EFL classes at Lembaga Internasional Universitas Indonesia.

The graduate education I received from BU SED has enabled me to do at least three things for the betterment of English education in Indonesia. First, as a lecturer in English education at one of the leading schools of education in Indonesia, I prepare and equip students who aspire to become innovative English teachers with effective teaching methodologies. Second, as an academic, I write papers and do studies related to English language teaching in the Indonesia context to help improve English education in Indonesia. Third, as a language instructor, I facilitate English learning for those who study English for specific purposes, such as Business English, English for Academic Purposes and English for Daily Conversation.
